In 1969 the Triacca family bought the farm surrounding the old Villa Franchi, used by the previous owners only as a hunting reserve. Today, with the previously uncultivated land cleared and planted with vines, the estate is the largest in the Greve in Chianti municipality.
It lies at an altitude of 350 masl and extends over 345 ha, comprising woodland, fields for crops and pasture. Vines cover 100 ha, mainly Sangiovese but also Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. From an average harvest at La Madonnina of 600 g/m2, annual wine production is 4000 hL. Luca Triacca, oenologist, is assisted by local oenological consultant Vittorio Fiore in a constant effort to produce even better wine.
